shimming up cab and core support

Iv got my bed bolted up and the body lines are perfect on the passanger side but on the dirvers side the cab has to come up.


what is the best way to shim up the cab?? and can i use the same harbor frieght body shims iv been useing/?? or do i need a certain kind??

As someone who does just about all the fabricating I can when it comes to my truck I would measure how much you need it to come up, say 1/4" I would cut out a spacer out of 1/4" steel, more than one if it needed 1/4"-3/4". Less than 1/4" I would go to a fastener shop and get some large flat washers, they are usually 1/16" or less.

The factory shims I've seen were as large as the surface of the body mount, and 1/8 to 3/16 thick. They were also slotted so you could install them without removing the bolt.

Slotted seems crazy to me, I could see them getting spit out on the highway and going through someone's windshield!

I have seen the slotted factory ones also. Look around Home Depot or a concrete accessory supply place for plate washers.

IMO sounds like the body bushing or cab support is gone on that side.

May want to check it out for rust or sagging, or change the bushings completely.

If not then shim it, washers shims whatever. I got my core support on my 88 shimmed up with a sbc ballancer washer, it's about 1/4 thick.

I would go to LMC Truck and buy the cab mount kit. You get all the new washers and cushions and then you're doing it right the first time instead placing a bandaid on it.

thanks guys. no rust and brand new body bushings. it maybe in the in cab floor support i welded in not sure. or maybe the frame is just a little bit tweaked.
