Make sure the mating surface on the block is clean and smooth so the oil filter gasket seals good. Also, spread a film of oil on the gasket, and fill the filter before installing it. And don't over tighten it, hand tighten and then 3/4 turn more is plenty.

I put a new wix filter on there, put oil on the rubber, tightened it hand tight then 3/4 turn more. It’s not dumping oil, but it’s still seeping some oil slowly

Did you make sure the mating surface on the block was clean and smooth? If there is anything on there the gasket on the filter won't completely seal to the block, causing a leak.

Could it just be residual oil from the leak before dripping down it?

Clean the block the best you can, and let it run and see if there is another leak somewhere. Could be valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, distributor gasket, etc.

I’ll go pick up a wix, zinc additive and oil and see if it keeps leaking or not
Check for 2 o rings while ya under there, only need 1,, 2 will blow out.

the high volume pump is a lifesaver in the summer here for me. With the stock worn out pump I was getting 5 lbs of hot idle pressure and 20 at 2500 rpm on the highway. The hv pump brought that up to 15lbs hot in gear idle in 110 degree summer heat and 45 lbs on the highway. The most pressure I’ve seen out of it is 80, and that was from a cold start right to the freeway because I needed to be somewhere fast. Normally it’s around 45-50 psi on the highway at 3000 rpm.

Make sure you wipe the rubber seal on the oil filter with oil before you put it on. This will keep you from buggering up the seal when tightening. After the first heat cycle of the engine, get under there and retighten the oil filter. A heat cycle sometimes loosens them up a bit.

The filter isn’t really leaking anymore. I think that was just residual left from when the other one blew out. It’s back to its normal rear main leak and timing cover leak.
