Rust coating for fill neck

My filler neck had a ton of rust in it. I scrubbed what I could out with a rust solvent and dryer vent brush on a drill. Is there a coating I can use on the inside to keep trash from going into my new tank?

There is a commercial zinc dipping company here that will do small jobs. Items are dipped in rust remover [acid] first then plated. Might try one local to you.

good to note that any epoxy coating will need to be gasoline resistant and it will have to cure

Appliance epoxy from rustoleum says about a month, and i dont know if its gas resistant but just a random epoxy i read the can on

There are many coatings advertised to seal the inside of gas tanks. Any of those would work fine, considering the filler neck only sees occasional soaking with gasoline.
Epoxy primer or any quality urethane 2k paint is also quite solvent proof.
Or replace the filler if you can’t get the rust sufficiently removed and cleaned inside the filler.

The thing that scares me about epoxy primer is that I painted the underside of my truck bed with epoxy primer and it is peeling off in sheets. I would hate to have that kind of problem inside the fuel fill area. I have had good results with epoxy primer in other areas but if you have a screw up it could get flaky.

Get a new filler neck, no worries about prep, paint and less work.
