Have you considered sourcing a complete serpentine set up from a GMT400 or GMT800 instead of spending all that cash on a March setup? It would make all the parts readily available at parts houses and/or junkyards...
Would the entire setup from a GMT800 5.3Lwork on a 79 350 with a small pulley balencer. Or what single belt systems from factory would work with a small ballence block. When I use larger balencers they interfere with a bolt on the block and will not work.

No to the 5.3 brackets.

Size of the balancer doesn't matter, they all have the same size hub bolt pattern.

What bolt is in the way? That doesn't sound right at all.

The OP was asking about Big Block serpentine set ups, I don’t think any of the GMT800 stuff would be compatible with a classic small block but GMT800 did have an oddball 8.1L big block…

For a classic small block the easiest would probably be brackets from an early GMT400 (‘88-‘95) and next would be the 350 Vortec brackets (‘96-‘99). I suspect ‘80s Cameros and any other SBC car from that era would have brackets that would work just not as abundant as truck stuff.

The 350 Vortec brackets are better looking IMHO but there is potential clearance issues with perimeter bolt valve covers, the alternator and A/C compressor nearly touch the low profile center bolt valve covers from the later SBC’s. Vortec also had the upper radiator hose routed behind the A/C compressor which may or may not work with a classic style thermostat housing that aims the upper hose at the radiator.

The aftermarket billet aluminum water necks can be rotated 360 since they are multiple pieces, the valve cover clearance may still be an issue however.

The GMT 800 stuff applies if it's a 4.3L V6. That stuff still swaps over to the older small blocks.

Or you could get a billet neck (because shiny) that points straight up and run a sbc upper hose.

Can verify, as our 85’s “new” engine is a 1979 date coded 350 crate engine, with 1992 350 waterpump and serpentine system. Ran it for a decade in a beater Z71 that now has a rusted through frame…
