Anyone here a guru at wires under the dash? I've got two questions! Lol first one is what does this plug into? It is located close to the steering column but doesn't reach near anything. It's pink with a bluish line I think and a black wire.Second question is there are two pink wires behind my cluster, both have the insulation cut away and have another black wire with white stripe wrapped around them. No pic of that one! I'm thinking they have something to do with the dual tanks switch but I can't tell for sure. Any ideas?

Not sure about the plug.

The pink wires should both be fuel sender wires, but the fuel gauge only uses one of them. A standard gauge cluster needs the wire in one spot, while the tach cluster needs it in another... GM just wired the trucks so either cluster will work. Other years may be different, but that's how my '77 was setup when I swapped clusters. Why there are other wires spliced in is anyone's guess.

I was hoping I was right in that since I took off the wire that was spliced to both and connected it to just one, now my left tank only works and it won't with to the right so I guess it's a cheap fix, but if it works ill wave it be, I'd love to require the whole truck but I'm not ready to tear it down yet!
