It's my understanding that cool/cold intake air to the carburetor provides the best performance. So, on a stock SB factory setup with a q-jet, would it be okay and not mess anything up, to remove the manifold vacuum hose from the air cleaner temperature sensor allowing the air door in the air cleaner snorkel tube to remain fully open all of the time? The air pump and deceleration valve have been removed from the emission system.

Sure can. I have an oem air cleaner house for Crusty Biscuit, and it doesn't have any emissions stuff on it, so that air door is always open. I do have a spare air door for my 81 if it ever goes bad...lol...

The diverter is there for helping accelerate warmup, once it reaches temperature (whatever that might be), it's open and out of the system.

So you can certainly eliminate it/remove and cap the vacuum source to it, but it's not hurting anything and on a stock or near 305 I don't think it would make much of a difference.

My 76 I don't have it plumbed up, but I did, I probably stole the vacuum line for another vehicle at some point and never replaced it.
