When pulling a engine is it wise to replace the motor mounts reguardless of the condition of the old ones?

I'd look them over for rot and tears, in a FWD I'd say yes do it...But I haven't done it in a RWD unless I was putting in a different engine (I.E. 350 to 454).

I'd agree. Wrong Wheel Drives aka FWD, mounts tend to get tired and lazy. They smash down then the motor sits lower than its supposed to and can cause problems. Also replace the engine strut up on top too.
