I’m removing a 454 4 speed with a pto and putting in a 79 Chevy I want to permanently remove the pto is this something that can be done?

what is the PTO? Hydraulic pump?

Either way, you just unbolt it and put a cover over the opening...

Not sure it’s a 74 gmc dump truck

I get the truck delivered Monday or Tuesday depending on weather and when I yank it then I will see

Pto is removed by previous owner any way to identify the transmission by the #d

if your shift pattern is L in the upper left, 1 is down, 2 is up, 3 is down, and R is reverse to the right

or it says 1 in upper left
2 is down
3 is up
4 is down
and r is down on the right (same pattern but all numbers no L)
and your transmission is what the PTO was on, then its probably an SM465
