You probably have a 465, so junk yards may have then, especially the small dump trucks, have on on my IH, and it works excellant

465 what the regular old granny low 4 speed is called? Only identification I've been aware of is where reverse is, this one reverse is passenger side down. Another question, is the 4 speed manual the same in a 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive 70's and 80's model pickups?

yes, the squares werre offered in one manual trans that was 4 speed total. 1 granny gear, 3 syncrhonized forwards, 1 reverse. reverse being uncomfortably close for a middle passenger :O

2wd vs 4wd had different external characteristics because of how they had to mate up, but same trans internally.

here is one

Let's not forget the output shafts are different, the 2wd has I believe a 35 spline fixed yoke throughout its lifespan. While the 4wd had different variations within itself, there was the 10 spline and I believe a 32 spline in the 80's, these are not fixed yoke shafts.

Same case but different shaft splines, shaft lengths/ and tail housings.

no PTO but thought id give you some insight. and yes prarie is right, i believe 1981 or so they changed shafts. the 77 and 80 are DIFFERENT in my case because my whole setup came out of a 85+square, so it would have the different shaft length as well aas np208.

the 77 would likely be what yo uare seeking, but yo uhave many squares. the PTO differences should be zero. chelsea pto sells a lot of units as well as muncie. fitmen and how to setup.. thats beyond me atm. i would like one eventually too.
wjhat are you looking to do? power a pump? mechanical winch?

Yes ma'am, both truck has a 30K ish mechanical winch that I am going to run off a hyd motor, via a pto ran hyd pump. Also need hyd remote capability to help with some of the work I do.

Believe it was 84 when they went to the aluminum transfer case, replacing the good cast iron case ones. Had no idea about the spline differences, thanks for the info ma'am.

I might have a PTO available. It was a passenger side mount, but I changed it over to driver side output. I put some new bearings and seals on it (if I can remember correctly). It can be swapped back over to passenger side easily.

Is it a one directional? Believe they fit either side? One on the truck now has a forward and reverse so to say, and never disengages from the tranny, first one I've ever seen so, dunno. The pump I have can be hooked up in either direction so all i need is it to spin when I put it in gear and do nothing otherwise.

Thanks!!
