Pilot Bearing

The 350 which I purchased has a needle pilot bearing in the crank.
Any chance this is reusable?
The time is now to replace it, I guess.
I've seen some neat tricks to remove pilot bearings, like grease or wet paper pieces
to exert hydraulic pressure to remove the bearings.
Should these work on the needle type bearings?

Part stores rent a puller. Replace the bearing. For higher performance application some would recommend a bronze bushing instead

Not sure if it works on a needle bearing, but ive used bread to get a bushing out. Worked like a charm. Not as messy as grease.

Yup. I've seen bread and paper soaked in water to keep the water from just squirting out.
The truck it came out of was automatic, but it was not the original engine........
No serial # (S/N on a sticker...) so I couldn't track it to its roots........

The bread doesnt have to be wet. Probly less messy than wet paper too. Just break off pieces and beat them in there till the bushing falls out. Then dig the resulting "biscuit" out.
