Question on painting new panels for my square. I've got new hood, fenders, door and wanted to paint both sides to the new body color.

What's best practice as i won't be able to hang them and will have them on paint dolly racks. Is it best to spray the backside first with primer, let dry then flip and paint the top side? Repeating this process for base and clear?

Appreciate tips or ideas on how to do this so I don't mess it up ]please!

Primer and paint the inside first, then turn over and do the pretty side. If you are not handy with the gun or paint, doing the insides first will work out any issues prior to painting the pretty side.

When I do the pretty side then do I need to sand any overspray off?

Yes, scuff, tack rag, ect.

Solid or metallic color? If metallic everything you do effects the final color. Mixing ratio, humidity, temperature, air pressure, distance from panel, all of it. Very hard to paint panels off the vehicle and have them match especially of not done at the same time.

Did you pre-fit? If not, should be done first. These trucks were not held to a high standard.

Personally, I don't paint the inside. I just wipe the panel down with rubbing alcohol and then rattle can the exterior side. - Good 'nuff.
