Folks, hope everyone is having a great day.

I have a question. I just picked up a 1985 SB and the original owner told me that the headers he installed overheat the starter when it sits in traffic.

Do y’all think just wrapping the headers would solve the problem or should I try to bend the header further away from the starter. Or is there a better solution.

I here is a photo of the truck and my dawg

I've been told that wrapping the headers leads to moisture getting trapped in the wrapping and making the headers rust....

Agreed. No way I’d wrap used headers that have certainly already burned all the paint off.

I used a newer smaller starter from a vortec motor and added a ford solenoid on the fender by the battery. It fixed my issues with the starter and headers. A heat shield wouldn't be a bad idea either but I had issues fitting anything between the starter and headers.
