I recently bought a 84 c10swb. The PO replaced the motor but didnt hook up anything for the gauges or grounds. I have checked the gauge and it works. I have installed new grounds for the engine block and to the cab. I have looked all over the block and only found the 2 prong oil sensor on top and 3 wires coming out of a sensor near the oil filter. Is there a way to make either of these work with the 1984 gauges or can i pull the 2 prong sensor out and adapt the 1 prong sensor to fit that spot? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are the senders plugged into anything? IIRC, the gauge sender goes up top and the one down by the oil filter is to operate the electric choke.

You can just put the gauge sender in place of the one up top.

Or you could pull/extend the 3 wires up to where your 2 terminal sender is currently located.

The wires should be Pk/white, Lt blue & dk blue.

The pk white is the hot wire and goes to one terminal (either one)

The other 2 get spliced together. One goes to the choke heater and the other lights up the choke light on the dash.

OK finally had the time to pull the idiot light sensor out and put the gauge sensor in. IT WONT FIT!!! The holes are the same size and thread BUT I have an Edelbrock in take and a MSD distributor. The Intake sits higher than the stock one and the distributor is wider than the stock. Im trying not to run aftermarket gauges. Is there anywhere else i can put the gauge pressure sender???

ALSO i'm not sure where the PO got the engine or what year it is, but like i said earlier there are 3 wire on a sensor near the oil filter. What are these for?

Should be a plugged off oil port right above the oil filter.

I think that may be where the 3 wires are coming from. I will take a look this weekend. Thanks

Had to do a little engineering because the gauge sensor is short and fat and 1/8" instead of 1/4" but its in and working. Thank for the help Robert. Now onto the volt meter!!!

If my choke light doesn't come on does that mean I'm not getting any voltage to the oil pressure sensor switch on top?
