So sometime in the past 4 decades a previous owner added the OBS underhood work light to my truck, along with a couple other things. Unlike 99% of the ones I see these days it’s not cracked, the little retaining tab isn’t broken off, it works great, I was using it today.

I do have one problem though. I can’t get the light bulb out to clean inside of it and change the bulb to a LED. From what I can tell, the way to remove the lens is to press down and twist BUT there’s a rubber gasket below the clear lens it looks like and that rubber gasket is rock hard now and the lens doesn’t budge a fraction of a millimeter when I press down. If I press any harder I’m sure I’m going to crack the lens. So, any ideas on how to get that lens off in one piece? I mean, eventually that bulb is going to burn out so at some point I’m going to need to get it out.

Find a way to get some lube or silicone on the gasket, without getting it on the lens? Toothpick or Q-tip?

Carefully squirting bit of silicone spray around the base of the lens with a straw might help out here.
