Long time listener first time caller…

Last thing to get working on my truck is the speedometer. Cable is good, ratio adapter is good, and the metal driven gear is good. I am thinking my problem is the plastic drive gear inside. Mine looks to be red, is it the 7 tooth I need ? And can I get to it without dropping the trans case through the rear end ? Any suggestions appreciated thanks.

Not sure about the access question, but I do have the Red Plastic gear out of my old NP203. It's yours if you want it. PM me.

What is the problem with the speedometer? Not working at all, bouncing, ...?

Have nothing when all connected. If I disconnect at case and spin cable with a drill gauge works fine. My old cable was snapped off into the driven gear so replaced that first and still nothing. Not sure if a slight adjustment is needed with the cable or gear but I've not been able to find that spot. Tomorrow I will double check if that toothed gear is actually spinning.

Maybe I'm missing something else, speedometer has never worked in my ownership and was probably busted for another 15yrs before that

You have a square in Europe ? Sweet probably dont see many others around..

Not much old american steel round here, we are a small tight knit community of gearheads.

solved. problem was a cable seating issue for anyone dealing with similar. jacked up the rear end threw it in neutral and spun the driveshaft to confirm toothed driven gear was spinning correctly. disconnected cable at both ends and plugged back in starting at trans end seemed to fix. now just gotta work on getting it accurate. what a PITA!!! but glad to have all my gauges working now.

I feel your pain, my K10 is way off on the speedo due to it being on 33's. If I drive through my home village with its 20mph speed limit, I barely see the needle move off the peg. I know that these gauges weren't all that accurate to begin with, but 40mph on the gauge when I am doing 50 is a bit too far off. For now I am using a cheap GPS speedometer as a backup, but I am considering switching to a Dakota Digital VHX cluster.

Same here on 33s, at 45 actual gauges going 30.kmh. Lol
