Hey all - been a minute since I’ve been on the forum. Picked up a ‘90 V2500 Suburban a bit ago and the speedometer works maybe half the time. The other half the time it reads zero, or will randomly pick an incorrect speed and stay there. I had several dash lights out so I pulled the cluster apart thinking I could check the printed circuit. It was on pretty good shape, a bit rough on the twist in light connectors, but I got all the lights working again, cleaned up the connections and gauges. No effect on the speed-o though.
I noticed LMC doesn’t sell the speed-o gauge for the 90-91 trucks. It’s electronic, not cable driven. Jegs sells a Brothers speedometer that says it’s good for 87-91 but clearly looks like a cable driven one based on the pictures. Has anyone had luck finding someone who can repair these? Should I just keep an eye open on eBay? Would love to get a Dokota Digital set up and get a tach, but is more $$ than I want to spend right now.
