Hello,

My name is Shane and I live in South Carolina. I have been lurking on this forum for years but never posted anything, so I am not really new but I will introduce myself (my truck).

I will be putting this one up for sale soon and really don't know what it is worth. Finding comparables on the internet has been tough. I did recently see one sell on Ebay that was similar. It had a 305, vinyl interior and manual windows. It also had some rust in all the right places. It went for around $3800.

My dad bought this truck new and I purchased it from him in 1998. I drove it occasionally for a couple of years and then it got relegated to "dump truck" duty. 3 or 4 times a year in most cases, we would take a load of whatever we were discarding to the dump which is probably less than 10 miles away. So I have put very few miles on it in the 20 years I have had it. Dad has recently purchased a new truck so I now have 2 "dump trucks" so this one has to go.

Below is some information about the truck that should help.

The Good:
Loaded with 350 (5.7l) Fuel Injection, AC, PS, PB, PW, Tilt, Cruise, Cloth Seats, Automatic Overdrive Transmission
Minor dents and dings here and there, but no major body damage.
Passenger inner fender replaced recently due to battery acid damage
Southern Truck - No body rust that I can find
Bedliner installed since new
The transmission was rebuilt before I took ownership, not sure of date or mileage

The Bad:
The truck was painted by GM under warranty years ago due to the paint peeling. The roof and hood are faded and peeling again.
The interior has seen much better days. Seat and headliner torn, dash pad cracked (nice cover of the dash). Interior door pulls broken, missing. I have a few of the parts to repair but never got around to it. Driver vent window pivot is broken. Both window motors need to be replaced. I have new motors and will include them. It runs well, but sometimes will cut off when idling in gear. The oil pressure sending unit is leaking, I may try to fix that if I have time. I am sure many have noticed the Chevy grill. A deer ran out in front of my dad and broke the original. At the time GMC grilles were hard to find and expensive, so an aftermarket Chevy was installed.

I am sure I have missed some good and bad, but that is a general description of the truck. Any suggestions as to how much I should ask for it would be appreciated. Also, although my preference is to sell as is, I would consider recovering the seat and replacing the headliner. I assume it would cost under $500 for materials, so if I could get another $1000 in value it would be worth my time if not, that is fine as well.

I welcome all suggestions/comments good and bad.

welcome to the site. IMO, I'd replace the seat cover and put it on ebay. All stock you might get more than you think.

Thanks Dave for your suggestions! I realize it would bring more money the more I do to it. Just trying to decide if I want to commit the time and money right now. Still thinking....Thanks again, Shane
