Stoked to get started.
It’s a driver and needs some love
I had a perfect 1980 Long bed heavy half for years...sold it and regretted it every day

Found a short bed heavy half and had to get it!

Needs
Tires
Interior
Rust repair on the windshield lower corner and door corners
All new bushings
And a stock grille

Any insight would be great!

Thanks guys!

Welcome! Sweet truck! I too have a 79 GMC (C35) that needs all the same things.

I can tell you from experience the grille is the problem. I found a couple of them but they weren't perfect, good enough for now though.

I think that grille looks cool..
It's got nice lookin orange lights on the front for bonus!
I can do without those dealys on the bumper, but whatever. On a 2/4 that will be a badd mother!

Hooray for nostalgia! Good luck !
Ask @bucket about that windshield.

I looked long and hard for my one-year-only '75 grille, but thank you very much.
If it would have had one of those bar ones, I wouldn't have minded so much but it had nothing.
Not all bar grilles are created equal either. THAT one looks cool and it's got a great color PLUS it LOOKS LIKE it fits good.

Way to be @Big Chip !

It's the black bumperette thingys I don't care for. I've seen the all metal ones and those aren't so bad says the guy whose bull bar stays in the garage. Different strokes...no. It's not for sale. :) sorry not sorry .

Mine fit well too but they had to take the secondary hood latch because you can’t get in to release it.

Congrats on finding the right grille.

I hadn't thought about that.
'77 was the first year for the inside release? '76?
My '77 C20 Silverado has redundant hood releases , but I don't know why.
Would have been easy enough to retrofit factory parts....

I’m not sure but I think the inside release was still an option in 79. I can safely say I may be talking out of my ass on this subject.

I've never owned an '80, but I think it was still optional then too.
