The whole wheel spacing/setback/etc. thing has always confused me. Can anyone tell me what the specs on the stock rim on a '84 K10 were? I've got the stock steel rims, but want to put something nicer on with the same spacing and size.

Depends on what factory wheels you have. The most common is the "rally" style that is silver painted. Nearly all of those were 15x8 with roughly 4 inches of backspacing.

Here's a picture of the truck. Looks like plain old steel wheels to me. Thanks for the info.

Oh yeah, you're the fella with the awesome 4 speed truck. Those are just the basic steel rims that are actually fairly uncommon these days. I'm not certain, but the width is probably about 6 inches and about 3.5 inches backspacing.

As for aftermarket wheels, stuff in the 8 inch wide size is going to be more common.

So I would be ok getting a 15"x8" rim with a 4" or 5" offset and putting a 31"x10.5" tire on it?

And just out of curiosity, are they uncommon and desirable, or uncommon because no one wants them?

You don't want anymore than about 4 inches of backspacing, otherwise you run into tie rod clearance issues. But yes, that size tire is just fine on an 8 inch wide rim.

Not real sure why they are uncommon. I think the rally wheels were a very inexpensive option so a lot of trucks got them. The trucks that did get the base wheels were probably stripper work trucks that were used and abused, then junked long ago. Being the narrow rims, I wouldn't call them desirable, but certainly not worthless either.

In winter time around here they are desirable as people want them for winter rims. Something inexpensive and narrow for snow/salt/de-icer is what most are looking for.
