New to the form and Squares

I am in the hunt for a rear end for my 77 short .. 12 bolt 5 lug- My current one is looking like 500-700 to be rebuilt at a shop. I have found a rear the guy states its a 3.08 5 lug 12 bolt locker out of a 85? Thoughts it wont be a off road truck.. thks all! Asking because i am learning.

My truck appears to have been a orig- 6 3 speed.. So I think the rear that is toast is orig.

Howdy! What's wrong with your current axle? If it was originally a six, it might have decent gears in it.
