I recently tried to place an order only to find out that RockAuto no longer conducts business in Arizona due to a sales tax issue.

The state of Arizona claims they owe the them over $11 million in uncollected sales tax revenue even though they neither own or rent property, have no physical presence or have employees in the state. Their argument is because the boxes are filled by independent wholesales sealing the box with RockAuto tape and including a branding item, the magnet, they are an Arizona business. They also state because Rock Auto employees travel and stay overnight in the state, they essentially are employed in the state of Arizona. The first trial, state of AZ lost then appealed it, the state won that appeal. It's now going to the high court to be decided.
