Hi all! My names Pat, I hail from Casa Grande, Arizona. I love everything automotive, currently have 7 projects going, but my 74 C10 SB is at the top of the list right now. My current DD is a 90 V1500 Suburban, so far I've rebuilt the engine, trans, resealed the T-case, already picked up a set of 3/4 ton axles and a 10 inch lift, soon to be painted, and then lifted. The current project is a 74 SB, Cheyenne Super, 350/350, 12 bolt, was 100% original. I've already done a 2/4 drop, 355 with Pro-comp aluminum heads, LT4 Hot cam, KB hypereutectic pistons with coated skirts, 750 Holley vacuum secondaries, Raptor 700R4, with cryo-treated internals, 5 pinion sunshell, 2000 stall, currently has the original 3.40 one-legger 12 bolt. I've also done most of the interior, still waiting for my DD VHX to arrive, recovered and rebuilt seat, new headliner, carpet, door panels, dash pad, re-dyed all of the interior plastic. Still in the middle of rebuilding the front end as we speak, finished all of the bushings and ball joints, working on the tie rod ends, pitman, and idler arms. still have to do the U-joints, and the exhaust. I'm gonna leave the outside patina. Some like the look, others don't, I like shiny stuff a lot better, but leaving the exterior this way removes the worry of parking lots, and rock chips. I love to post pics, so I hope you guys like pics. Here's the before pics, and I'll post in the projects forum for the rest.

I do both. You need to replace the missing trim on the driver side and tailgate no matter what. Go with Patina for awhile clearcoated. Build everything else the way you want it. Then a couple years down the road when everything else is done, go for the high end paint job.

I've been keeping an eye out for some used trim pieces to fill the voids for the moment, but I don't want to put brand new pieces with the old cuz they just won't match. Lol, I'll look for the cheapest route right now.

Right now it's all about prioritization, I currently have 7 projects going;
1958 Opel Olympia Caravan
1965 C10 short, wide, big window
1966 C10 Suburban
1973 Nova SS
1974 C10 SB
1990 V1500 Suburban
1994 Saturn SL2

I've been working on all, a little at a time, but I'm getting close on at least 3, just have to keep it up.

Pat

Your C-10 got my blood flowing, funny you mention all the front end work because I am currently doing the exact same **** to my 90 454SS and its paint is ugly. Who cares about the body, make sure it burns tires and stops before looks.

A couple years ago I was delivering animal food product down there to Cargil off Jimmy Kerr lane. As a matter of fact, I should be driving through there tomorrow around noon on our way to the drags.

I don't blame you a bit. I'd be looking for used. Someone on here might even have some used ones. yeah, with all the projects you got, I'd go Patina for awhile. You've got plenty that will need Pretty.

Are you going to Firebi...oops Wild Horse Raceway Park, or Tuscon?

I dont care what the Native Americans call it, it will always be Firebird. We are stopping by Tuscon to get my brother in law and taking the scenic view down I-10. Im not coming home without at least one drag slick and meeting Ron Capps.

We made out pretty good last year, we got 2 pisons, 2 huge connecting rods and a blower belt off Ron Capps Napa funny car. Last year we learned that after the big guys run the pit area is like Halloween trick or treating for adults, all you have to do is go bug the crew for parts and they find something to give you.

I like it, reminds me of this 454 truck I was tempted to buy.

I'm not a fan of the "trendy patina", it is WAY overdone if you ask me. Trendy patina usually involves clearcoating the body (makes it look fake), slamming it to the ground, then bolting on a set of giant modern looking wheels.

"Patina" only really works for me if everything looks like it fits together. Leave it all alone but maybe do just a few things that could have been done a long time ago, like lowering it just a couple inches and maybe put some duals on it with some kinda crusty old Cragar SS's. And some tires that don't have too modern looking of a tread design.
