hi everyone, new member. ive been on and off this site for a while now. finally signed up. ive got a 74 chevy c10 shortwide and a 88 v3500 cc dually. the prev. owner kinda hacked up some of the wiring on the truck and some threads on here have been extremely useful in getting some things squared away.

specs on the dually, lifted 6", highsteer, 37s, nv4500, np205, carb 454, march performance serp set up.

c10 sits for now as i didnt have the cash flow to do much with it.
also have a 67 chevelle in pieces lol, 01 sierra with LS1 swap, 86 samurai on 36s, and a little chevy cruze for the long road trips.

thanks for all the great advice so far.

I love it. Fun to drive, strong, reliable, and easy to work on... getting close to 12mpg with the built 454. Can't complain at all.... I'd like to get a gear vender when I do FI and see what kinda mileage she's really capable of. As 5th gear I'm still above 2200 rpms with the 456s

that's awesome to hear because Im going from a turbo400 to a nv4500 and with 4.56 gears lets just say with a three speed it wasn't very fun to drive

12mpg with a built BB is sweet :rockit:

nv4500 is a great transmission but I wouldn't really call it a 4 speed as the 1st gear is granny low that you effectively have to start out in 2nd gear.

I see where your coming from but then why don't you call it a 3 speed with OD. NEW VENTURE refers it a 5speed

Bought the truck like it sits. Following both your threads, I've slowly been going through the truck fixing misc. Things and putting things back into working order. I got a smoking deal on it but it's got it's problems...the p.o. (not the guy that did the trans swap) wired up all the off road lights,cb, air compressor, train horn, stereo, amp, and things not remembering with 14 gauge speaker wire. power directly to toggle switches...no fuses or relays. Tore all that garbage off and putting interior back to stock...I like stock.

I really want to go break the guys hands so he can't butcher another rig...

So what i know about my rig is it's an 88v35 with 454 out of 78 burb 40 over.. Tranny is 92 external slave w/ wide ratio. Not sure what bell housing it is but my guess is stock nv4500 with a round 6 bolt np205. Trans cross member appears to be in stock location with the exception of a couple extra bolts. I bought a reverse switch with pig tail the other day to hook up the reverse lights. He had them on a toggle on the dash....wired with speaker wire, all the way to the back of the truck lol

Crazy the truck didn't burn to ground. I'm happy that hee didn't splice into stock wiring. So it's fairly easy to clean up and remove

The Speedo is 5mph off at 70. So not sure how that affects odometer but if the truck stays moving ya, calculated 12 mpg doing my 60 mile 1 way commute to work. Around town with all the stop lights it is closer to 5. Barely sees 4th gear and time to slow down again lol.can't wait to move
