Name is Phil, working on a 1985 k10, started life as a 305/700r4/NP208 truck and I'm in the middle of swapping the motor out of my Impala into the rig and dropping a th350/NP205 tcase with it

Welcome to GMSB. Great Swap Choice !!! I've considered the same swap in my 85 K1500. It also started out as a 305/700r4/NP208 and is now a 350/Th350/NP208. I've got the Th350/NP205 just haven't put it in. One thing that help me up was it came from an 80 model truck that had a 12 bolt rear axle, so although I know the front driveshaft will fit, I'm uncertain of the rear driveshaft working and mating with my 10 bolt rear axle. I don't know if the pinion lengths were the same and if the cup sizes on the U joint were the same.

I have a adapter plate to make the Th350 the "same length" as the 700r4 so I can use stock driveshafts... If I didn't have that the front shaft would be to long and the rear would be to short

Yep, that's what I did too. I got the spacer off of a trans in Pull A Part for $5, then cut off a 2wd output shaft. Simple swap and I can go right back to a 700r4 if I ever choose too. I just wasn't sure if that same adapter worked on the NP205 too. Are NP205 and NP208 the same length with their adapters?

Howdy!

That spacer won't do you any good at all, because your output shaft will be too short. That spacer is only useful if you are putting an np205 behind a 700 r4, or putting a LONG tail th350 in place of a 700r4 AND retaining the np208. If bolting in a th350/np205 combo, you have to get the shafts modified, that's all there is to it.

...did you say Impala?

Really?! That's my favorite year, I have one too. So if you are taking the motor out of it, what are you putting in? Got pics?

Yours a Sport Coupe or a Custom Coupe? Mine's a custom, always loved the concave rear window. I also have a '69 4-door hardtop.
