Hey everyone.. Michael from VA. Just picked up a 1984 silverado (@ least by the badge on the fender) 5.7 (block verified) complete dual exhaust (hooker header to flow master 3".. have not verified x/h pipe yet) holley carb (I believe 600-650).... good sized cam ( will post video of it running if I can figure that out).. runs great, rides great, sou ds great.... now the bad... it won't stay running when cold... have to start it, pump the gas and then hold It @ 3 grand u till it reaches operating temp... then will idle in neutral and park.. so when I drive it I have to shift to nuetral coming to a stop so it doesnt shut off.. there are several adjustments I need to check with carb.... will come back with questions upon further inspection...

Welcome from the Tarheel State just to your south. Share some pics of that rad ride & I'm certain some of these folks will share some diagnostic info with you.
Let's begin with asking if the carb is mechanical or electric choke?

So I just drove it to the next town over and back to drop my kids off.. ran great.... but!.. definitely feel like it needs @ least a 750cfm.. also, I feel like it needs different rear gears.. if anyone knows how to add a video I will..

Welcome from NorCal. Nice truck

Take a video with your phone. Go to Youtube and open an account. Don't need to pay just a free account. Follow the directions on Youtube copy the link provide in the Media tab at the top on this screen next to the smiley icon. Not sure if you need to have a few most posts to do that. But you do need 50 I believe if you want to post a forsale item.

It has been a long time since I adjusted a Holley. So this may be wrong but I'd check the idle adjustment screw. But I'd first look up the Carb you have at the Holley site and download the users manual.
