I would say it benefits the guy selling shocks

I've always heard multiple shocks are more of a gimmick than anything. I've never personally had them on the 30+ trucks I've owned so I can't say if they offer any real benefit...

multiple shocks help reduce shock fade..... but you wont encounter that unless you make runs off road at like 70 mph... if they are each damped like a normal shock you can expect lOTS of dampening. probably makes the ride harsher than necesarry

I'm thinking just weld a piece of angle iron from the axles to the frame. That oughta be cheaper and keep it stiff enough.

MAIN purpose of a shock is to hold the tires to the pavement. 2nd is to control bounce. I don't think you'll have a problem with either.

It doesnt look like its been driven in some time and appears to have a significant lift on it.

Is the steering shaft connected to the box? Appears to be at a hard angle to the box, unless its just dangling?

I used to call that the show truck fad, seemed to only see tons of shocks on show trucks, and with huge lifts. I would agree, mainly for looks. I like it, but I'd hate to buy new ones LOL.

i helped build a Tacoma with a multi shock setup on the front and its mainly used for hard core off roading and racing around the desert (we were in San Diego who didnt take their truck out in the desert to play????) but each one had a different dampening setup so one was a lil stiffer to help suck up the force of the truck landing hard while the other helped cushion the rest of the blow

Proper multi shock systems have less dampening per shock than single shocks.

the more weight your tires and axle wiegh the more effective multiple shocks are...unless you are running some 50" plus tires and rockwells they really dont do much for you. most people just buy a better shock rather than runing multiple ones.
