It ain't just Moog, they all are CRAP. The Moogs are just less crap. I've always tightened the sleeve by feel, but it's probably about 25-30 lbs.

When I installed moog, in the same truck 15 or more years ago I had no problems at all and they still were in not to bad shape a little slop in the top joint on both sides so an upgrade was in order, .... of course it wasnt a daily driver more for rv and ocasional work purposes..... problem is I cant even achieve any torque on the sleeve.

before i try to replace the suspect joint I think Im going to try installing the sleeve just below the yoke with the lower joint loose,
torque the upper nut then the lower any thoughts........

Ok ..... so I ordered the joints from rock auto so there was going to be no easy swapping the suspect part with a new one ,yesterday I was pretty pissed and I did go buy a skf joint thinking I was going to swap it over
Today having slept on it and cooled down a little I thought I would try different variations of torqueing like leaving the lower loose and doing the top end first
what I ended up living with was
.....torque the bottom to spec 80ftlbs
.....finger tighten the sleeve to just a few threads below the yoke
.....Finally tighten the upper to about 75-80 lbs spec being 100
and even that was to tight probably about 30-35 lbs on the old

"spring loaded fish weighing scale"

I think it will be ok.... of couse it will loosen up in time but I'm definately going to be keeping a close eye on things for a while and can see me having to retourque that upper nut down some more thankfully I dont run a wide tire because I'm sure the steering pump would be pushed beyond its limmits if I did
Now I am doing a restore so it wont be on the road for a few more weeks so I'll update this thread after a few hundred miles or so .
