Metro Detroit- Downriver Cruise

This weekend, June 28-30. A cruise on Fort Street in the city’s south of Detroit. It is usually very well attended. Not the stature of the Woodward Dream Cruise but not too shabby either.

I was an accidental participant in the Gratiot Cruise this year, day before Father's Day -

We were moving antique cars from the Pontiac Transportation Museum to the Edsel Ford Estate for the "Eyes on Design" Concours de Elegance, three of us making two trips each.

First trip went fine, but the second trip: they had closed the intersection at 9 Mile and diverted all the traffic onto Gratiot. So - down I went - race rig and all. I was sweating bullets.

Had to creep all the way past 8 Mile in order to bail and get back on track. By the time I came back through after dark everything was opened up.
