The knowledge he gained from this one repair will stick with him forever and the stuff he learned crosses over to other electrical gremlins as well.

Nice work. I just found this thread yesterday, but it was fun reading through your diagnosis. Things get real tough when there is more than one problem...

When i got my C10 from my uncle (who got it from my grandfather who got it new) --my ESC AND the Ignition module in the distributor where both bad. So I was trying to get a truck running with unknown issues that had been sitting for 3-4 years... had 2 things broken that caused the same symptom -- no spark to the plugs. To make it worse the NEW esc module i put in was intermittent. It would randomly work or not work. I got really frustrated and was kinda at a loss -- but i just kept poking at stuff until i realized the ESC module would stop/go just by lightly tapping it. So i swapped it and good to go.

Anyway, nice job. Kinda fun fixing stuff once you get through the hard part.

Easy fix ditch the ESC for a normal HEI distributor.

If I do any other type of electrical repairs and going to start where’d it’s not getting power and back track. My ADHD kicked in and I jumped around to different areas instead of tracing it back

It's not ADHD. It's the learning process. You are progressing well, grasshopper.

ADHD is a made up thing if it didn’t exist when I was a kid it don’t exist now. I’d was popularized so they could under fund schools and push kids out the doors to fall on there faces with a piece of paper in their hands saying they have a learning disability. When all it was the teachers had a teaching disability......the government. When it became illegal for parents to discipline their kids too, is when ADHD popped up. I know for sure a swift kick in the ass clears up ADHD symptoms real damn quick.

Beautiful work!
Isn't that heater hose a bit close to the exhaust manifold?
