Hey all,

As I search for new wheels to work with my 8-lug setup I have come up with a few questions.

Pretty much settled on this style of wheel:

http://www.ultrawheel.com/ultra-wheel.cfm?id=672&cat=1140&s=0

I get confused on offset - I can get either -6mm or +12mm offset on the 16x8 wheels.

First Question - which offset will look more "stock." I dont like it when wheels "stick out" on trucks so looking for something that will tuck under the fenders like the stock wheels do. I do not want any issues with rubbing the suspension or anything like that. Going to be putting some 265/75/16 tires on, if it makes a difference.

I believe the stock rally wheels on my k10 are 15x8 with 0 offset (to avoid confusion - I have a 6-lug k10 right now, putting 8 lug axles under it).

Second Question - there are many manufacturs that produce this same style of wheels, like American Racing, Mickey Thompson, Pacer, etc. Any difference on these? They are all polished aluminum - I would assume that they will all need the same amount of upkeep to keep them shiney. Any input here would be appreciated.

That's been a common aftermarket wheel design for the last 15 years or so, there are many manufactures that produce a similar wheel and they are all about equal in price and quality from what I've seen.

You'll want the -6 offset wheel, the +12 is meant for the newer trucks that have more backspacining.

American Racing makes one called the Baja, its the same design with a 0mm offset. Maybe that is a good place to start?

-6mm should be fine, I checked and its about 1/4". I shouldnt be able to see the difference from stock.

Thanks!

If anyone has pictures of these wheels, post away!

I have the American Eagle 186 version of that wheel. Offset is -5 so the Ultras would sit pretty much the same. Upkeep is minimal, after 8 years they were still shiney but had some blotches in the finish that looked like some sort of chemcal splashed on them. Spent a day with some polish and they look like new again.

16 x 8's wearing LT315/75R16 tires.

The front wheel didn't catch the sun right in the above pic so it doesn't look very shiney, but the other side in the shade shows the polish.

That looks really good! What height is your lift there? Its hard to tell from the pics, but do they tuck under the fenders or do the tires stick out a little?

That's four inches. The edge of the tread on the fronts is even with the fender above, but the bulge of the sidewall sticks out a little bit. On the rear, the whole tire is inside the wheel well. This is the only pic I have that's close to angle you want to see. (The front wheels are turned a bit though.)

Mickey Tompson Classics is the same wheel also. And you can get those with Look-alike beedlocks.

I was recently picking out new wheels and tires for the Suburban (good golly they are high dollar...waiting for tax time) and found that the Classic II's have been replaced with Classic III's. They look a little different now. I picked them only because they are available in 16X12, not because of the brand.
