LMC Vent Window Rebuild

Checking to see if anyone has rebuilt their vent windows with the LMC kit. We got everything except the frame obviously. Question is for the new glass going into the frame using parts 2,3, &4 on the attached. Did you use any kind of glue to hold it all together, it appears that you must do this as it is a forced fit to keep it all tight.

I did. The frame is pushed on to the window with the glass setting rubber. Degrease glass and frame before putting it together.
Take your time and be patient.

how are the regular gussets on the regular windows.
the passenger side of mine needs a new set. (just dry and physically not being able to stay in place anymore after 40 years). thinking "lmc" or "classic industries"

I tried, years ago, failed. Took them to my local glass shop, he kept them 8 months, bent the hell out of the frames, also failed, now it's all sitting in boxes and I have crappy rusty donor doors on my rust free truck just to have windows lol.

I really think I am just going to end up buying new ones from Precision, my frames are a bit rusty and I am already way into it $ wise on my POS.

I bought new vent glass from auto city glass and the rubber from LMC. Pain in the ace replacing them for me. Got them both in without breaking but it took quiet a bit of time.

Planning on working on them this weekend, time permitting. The rest of the door window trim is decent, however I got all new as the cost was not bad and might as well since it is all apart anyways.

I did both of mine, the window set was no problem, the outer frame rubbers are a whole different game though... they killed these old hands, and I tried every trick in the book.

the thing i need is the peach fuzz mossy seal,..

...not sure if I am using the correct search term. when I put the truck in the paid barn in the fall, I had to really hand guide the window up. (happy it closed,...pulled every plastic pry tool, and flat screwdriver out of the drawer,...but in the end of 30 minutes of total fighting, the window just wanted to go up as everything was line up just right)

sad that what should be straight forward and easy,...just wants to be randomly just right.

I planned to do mine but time was running out so I had Precision do them. The only negative I can say is they did not paint the black piece between the vent and door glass. Mine was not rusty but it is 40 years old.

Plenty of video's on youtube. it's tedious but can be done. Take your time and don't get pi$$y with it.

I watched both, but mainly followed the 2nd video.

Okay - I got them done, and yes it is a pain in the ass! The biggest lesson I can pass on is to order everything from Precision, not LMC. The setting tape form LMC was not good, really skinny and thick where the Precision was wider and much easier to work with. Precision has every part you will need to fully rebuild these.

Precision has a program where you can send them yours for a re-build, I would do this in the future.

I ended up removing all the rivets to get the main rubber installed, and it still sucked and never was exactly how they were from GM.

At the end of the day they are in and it is a huge improvement, they don't leak or whistle and look great; but man what a project!
