I just ordered a set of black wheels for my truck from diamond racing wheels.

The guy told me it would require 12mm/1.5 lug nuts with a 45 degree conical seat.

Now, someone on another site said this won't work because our trucks have a 1/2 inch wheel stud? Is this correct? Do I just need to buy new wheel studs?

My truck is an 82 GMC Sierra 1500.

Thanks guys.

Sounds like halfway bogus info. Wheels do not require a certain thread size, but the seat is important. I think the standard seat is 60*?

Yeah standard seats are 60 I think. But since these are racing wheels they require a 45 degree lug nut. I found the lug nuts, so I thought it would be fine.

Can I use 45 degree lug nuts with my stock wheel studs?

Thanks.

Are your 45* lugs 12mm or 1/2"? Seat angle doesn't matter but thread size does.

Seat angle does actually matter. Either angle will "work", but the correct one will work better, last longer, and lessen the chance of the lugs working loose.

Thanks guys for the replies, but I cancelled the wheel order. From what I read you can't even get those wheels balanced like normal wheels, something about them not being Hub Centric.

It just means that the center opening may not be exactly centered, so the wheels need mounted to the balancer with a lug adapter. Used to be common actually, back in the 70's and 80's when GM sold a lot of those styled steel wheels with the raised centers, a lot of them had centers that weren't perfectly punched in the center of the wheel. You could balance them like normal, but there would often be a slight vibration at higher speeds. Mounting the wheels to the balancer with a lug adapter would solve the problem.

I believe you misinterpreted my post. Lets just say we are 100% in agreement on everything! I said that thinking we all knew he was going to need the 45* lug nuts to match his wheels. Technically, disregarding the wheel, he can use whatever angle he wants, but the threads need to be correct. I do agree to use the correct seat angle when you throw the wheels into the equation.
