Just picked up a booster from pepboys had to remove and reuse the purple seal that slides over the rod at the back my question is do i leave in the what is a white sponge thatis already in the booster along with a black sponge that's on top of the white one or do they both come out before i slide in the purple seal my pld one didn't have those sponges trucks been sitting for 20 years maybe they fell apart but not sure any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

This sounds a bit off to me, but maybe I'm in the minority there. I bought a Delco booster for my Jimmy, it already had the purple seal on it, and there were no sponges to speak of. In my experience, there was no transfer of parts required. Maybe someone else knows what you mean with the sponges, but I'd like to see a picture.

It's alright. And I see what you're saying now. The purple thingy goes over the rod, which you already knew, and if I remember correctly mine had the black felt bushing, and I left it on there. I don't remember the white sponge at all so I don't want to speculate that it's just packing material, and it's not. This is how mine looked going in facing the cab side.
