I was looking at the back of my step side and I first was like I want to flip the chains to the inside of the tail gate that would be easy and clean up the back a lot. then I was like meaybe I'll french some tail lights in to my fenders that'll clean it up as well. and bam the good idea fairy struck lol. I want to cut the back um I'm guessing 6in off the back of the bed which will get rid of the bed stakes and shorten the rear of the truck all the way to the fender. I see that the shackle is just past the fender so either I can build a bumper that hugs kind of tight so it just covers the back and the shackle for cosmetic purposes, move the rear forward a little bit or section the fenders a little bit and make them wider...

In short I was thinking of shortening the rear of the truck flush with the fenders, flipping the chains to the inside of the bed and frenching some cool tail lights into the fenders...

let me know if you have seen this or have any input

I realize being in the military that the terms "I've got an Idea" "based on my expericance(from anyone other than a warrant or NCO)" or the term "Watch this" rarely if ever result in anything other than disaster or a good laugh lol

Couple problems. First of all, I think it would look goofy. Second, you need that stake pocket because that whole deal is what supports the rear of the bedsides and fenders.

Just hang some LED tail lights on it, hide thebchains, then go get some sleep.
