it was going so well more or less, then .......

so i got some "go slow" goodies piled in the bed.

the garage wasn't too cold so i thought i'd bolt something on and feel like i was making progress.

i plumbed in the new carb, complete with new shiny vacuum blocking caps and a new return spring.
cleaned up the routing of vacuum hoses. re-bent, flared tubing etc.

i hit the starter and the engine, not an original as i found out, started right up and sounded better than ever.

previously, while dissappointed at the transfer case, i checked the fluid and topped it up.

i put the seat back in and thought i go for a test drive on the new carb.

up and down my gravel road, the response and power were very much improved.

then my np208 blew a hole in itself and dumped innards all over my driveway.

the flying turd lives up to its name yet again.
50/50 scrap it/fix it (the whole truck that is)

just so defeated with this thing.
especially after spending what little cash i had to spare on body panels/rockers, flooring, carb etc.

Hopefully there are junkyards in your area that have square bodies, or someone here has a spare transfer case they will let go of.

Can't really give advice as to when the time is to eject out of one as I have a history of spending way too much money on one and getting bored - or pissed - and moving on to the next project at a loss.

Holes to throw money down.

If I had stuck with just one, would have saved a bunch.

That being said, sounds like you have it licked after this setback, so I would say fix it and enjoy what you have done up to this point.

price of a used transfer case is cheaper than buying a whole 'new' truck.

That is catastrophic but get a replacement t-case, go through it and check the innards before installing it, and rock it.

NP208's should be a dime a dozen and cheap.....like 3.08 rear ends.

i guess i'm not as easy going as i used to be.
things bother me a bit more than they should.

definitely need to wait for warmer weather.

now i just need to push/pull the truck to a 'long term' spot in the yard and maybe buy a weather cover for it?

I have a 5 bay "storage" with my 63 Corvette,66 Nova, 70 LS6, 41 Chev 2dr sedan and 56 Nomad and crammed with "stuff" that I might NEED. Then there is my shop with the rest of my "highly sought after" stuff

I have a low mileage 208 I wont need as soon as I locate a 241. The wife and I are finding places we want to move to (sooner than later) thats close by to you to boot, but that doesn't help things NOW.

And I feel your pain for the $$$ spent. If I had it to do all over again. I would have paid top dollar for a southern low mileage 2000-2003 K2500 and stashed a pile for something else.
