Inset door on blazer

Having trouble with the driver side door, passenger is doing Allright, still working on it. Seems like it might be Allright.

But the driver side door is cant seem to get the top part of it to come out far enough to be flush with the rear fender. The bottom is Allright. If I use the bolts on the door (hinge to door) i can get it close but then the wing window has a massive gap to the windsheild frame?

Anyone provide a little help?

One of two things possibly going on here.

The door is tweeked and needs dealt with. Or... the door simply needs adjusted to fit the quarter panel, then the entire front adjusted inward to close up the forward gap.

These trucks tend to have a large gap along the a-pillar anyway.

Were the gaps good before you removed the door? Are the hinges tight? Does the striker have the plastic bushing? There’s a door adjusting thread on this site which explains the process very well.

Right, but you don't have a fender and hood mounted. The door may be way out at the bottom too, you just don't know it because it's surrounded by nothing. Adjust the door closer to the cab, top AND bottom.

Hi - great truck, very jealous! , However the full roof blazers are about the weakest and most prone to body movement of all truck bodies, as there is no upper roof to tie everything together.
Before you can even try to get good panel gaps, you need to make sure there is no corrosion in the body / frame that could be allowing movement or opening up of the door area. Replace all the body to frame mounts with new ones, and make sure all the re-inforcing panels that bolt under the sill areas are in place - these act as box section braces for the floor, to prevent it acting like a "banana" when the doors are opened up.
Look at some assembly manual diagrams, and make sure you have all the correct parts on there. Once all that is in place, you can start gapping the door shuts etc. There are plenty of threads on here about how to adjust hanging panels.

Didnt get to make a full reply earlier, was at work.

All the body mounts exept for the core support have been replaced, previous owner went frame off and did the frame, he also did alot of patch work.

When it comes to the metal in the intirior/tub, the truck is an amalgamation of 2 differnt trucks.

He cut up a whole other blazer to patch the tub of this one.

Everything I know that was patched:
Passenger side floor pan
Parts of driver side floor pans, exept one big hole i need to.
Front half of Passenger side bedrail.
Upper half of windsheild frame
And Both doors.
Everything else is original to the truck.

The outside is extremely extremely straight. I got the doors to a liveable point though. I might play with the driver door a bit more but the passenger is great.

I def need to start a build thread on this.

Another question I do have for anyone here.

Is there supposed to be metal here? I assume so? That section is missing on both sides.

Ha - just happen to be stripping a truck as we speak. Rusty as all getout, however looks from you pic that you are missing the stamped dash metal that goes over the steering column ( See attached ).
