I've fueling issue with my 5.0 1987 tbi, i want to renew some of the parts, i already have 2 new tanks, 2 new sending unit/fuel pump (not installed yet), a new fuel filter, i'll change the fuel pump relay and the fuel selector switch on the bottom on the dashboard.

I was running on only one tanks since 3 years (right one removed) but now sometimes my fuel gauge goes crazy, and the truck stall and will not restart for a moment.

I was wondering how to get it out from the dash, what should i remove before i can access to it.

the tank selector valve seems to have replaced, i've the bill from the previous owner, but i think the mechanic who did the job wasn't honnest as on this bill there is also a windshell pump which i had to replace 6 months later and found a totaly old rusted part in place.

thanks

I am sorry, but i can't see how i can access the clips behind the dash, there is a sidewall on the right by the ashtray.

You must be registered for see images

and an air duct [probably AC] at the bottom

Air Duct will come out without removing the gauge cluster bezel. Just grab hold of the Air Duct and pull, it comes out easily, may have one bracket/nut holding it in place.

My selector switch, just popped out. I gently pryed both end with a flat head screwdriver. The replacement switch snapped back into place ...no metal retaining clip on mine. If you're replacing the switch with a new unit, looking at the new unit should determine how to remove the old unit.
