How to remove the fuse box from the bulkhead connector

I've had this apart in the past but can't remember now and haven't found anything yet online. I am thinking once the 2 long screws are removed there are some snap arm features that need to be opened. I don't want to break anything trying to force these apart. I'll keep searching but would appreciate a hint or two. Thanks

wondering if it's the center bolt in the bulkhead connector, accessed from the engine bay. It doesn't seem like it. But maybe the bolt is retained by a threaded hole molded in fuse box and it's as simple as removing that bolt. will try that now

OK, that worked to separate the connector from the other half but the fuse box is still connected to the mating connector body. Hmmmm? At least I can see back behind it now but it would much better if I could get that box completely off, if possible.

You can see that thing?!? All 4 of my Chevy trucks it is buried under what looks like a mix of seam sealer and rubber undercoating…

Way back in my car stereo installing days, we used to refer to the seam sealer as "googumpucky." Ruined many an otherwise neat job.

The 5/16 bolt under the hood holds the engine compartment half of the harness to the dash harness/fuse box. More than likely , you will need a heat gun to soften the sealer/glue that GM used to weatherproof the terminals.

The 2 long screw under the dash hold the fuse box/firewall connector to the firewall. Once the 2 long screw are removed, there are 2 clips that hold the firewall connector and the actual fuse box together as an assembly.

Once you start taking it apart, it will become pretty obvious how it’s assembled.
