Very glad I found this forum. Have learned alot in just the few days I have been on here. I have had the truck about a month and am starting to rebuild it. I am using it as a daily driver now that i have it running. I was told when i bought it that it had a 350 in it but the tag under the hood and the vin said it was a 305. I broke out the brake cleaner last night to read the casting numbers and found out that it is a 305. Which sucks but just gives me another reason to swap the motor. I was hoping to find someone on this site that possibly had one or one that needed rebuilding that I could buy. I am located in south Texas about an hour south of San Antonio. The pictures shown are how I got it. I put new tires on it because the others were dry rotting. Didnt have much choice in tire size since the wheels are so wide. They are 295/50/15. I removed all the purple faded tint. Did a full tune up and rebuilt the quadra junk and it has run fine ever since. I bought it as a non running truck. I have a brand new preformer eps manifold and 750 cfm edelbrock manual choke carb that I am contemplating putting on this weekend. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Welcome! 750 CFM on a 305 is a bad idea, if it's running good the way it is now I would just roll with it till you can get another engine.

Yeah i so ended up slapping it on last night. Huge difference especially when first starting it in the mornings. Before it would usually die on me a couple times. Idles great, doesnt hesatate and definitely gave it more power. Felt good to get all that erg garbage off it.

Welcome! And its QuadraJet...Quadrajunk is the term used by lazy folks who dont know how to properly repair and tune them, and dont even want to bother to find out how...these folks end up with a much more inferior carb, called an Edelbrock.
Properly adjust that secondary air valve, and you will feel that carb open up. and you will like the fuel economy.

I rebuilt the Quadrajunk already a month or so ago. I have rebuilt many of these. I am not new to this. I dont care about fuel economy and I will not be adjusting the secondary air valve as I put the quadrajunk where junk goes. In the garbage. Thanks for the help.

I wonder how may Quadrajets have been thrown in the trash? I'd guess a lot, lol.

Send em all to me! Nice thing is, you can de tune them, works nice for a little 4.3. Eddy are OK carburetors when used on a dyno.

Jim, you beat me to it... Hell, I put a later model quad on my 454 with a few tweaks and she's running pretty good. Still need to tune it as I think she's still running fat, but it's a work in progress. If I can find them cheap enough I snatch 'em.

Welcome, welcome.

The 750 carb actually helped? Wow. That seems like way too much carb for a little ol 305.

Looks like a fun little truck. Good to have ya aboard the forum.
