What's up guys! Just recently all the lights in my truck don't turn on. Dome light, gauge lights, head and tail lights. But the turn signals work? Truck starts fine and all but I'm starting to get a bit upset. I had the truck for a while and some of the wiring is hacked up do to my father, but it never effected anything. I checked the ground, checked fuses and nothing. Can anyone help me or give me a couple of ideas on what to do? Thanks for anyone's help! It's a 79 GMC Sierra!

You can start by probing wires at the back of the heaadlight switch. There should be a constant hot wire.

You will need a wiring diagram first. Then look for the constant hot lead to the headlight switch. If you have power there then check for power through the switch and keep moving down the line. If you dont have power there check up stream untill you find an open circuit. Just follow the diagram like a road map. The reason you are lookingfor power and not checking grounds is because nothing works and the lighs or groups of lights use different ground points. I wouldn't rule out a ground issue tho. It would pay to check them an be sure they are good.

If I remember correctly the head light switch is fed via a fuseable link that comes off the battery stud on the starter.

Yep check the wires going down to the starter they have fusible links, check behind the head to make sure they aren't grounded out anywhere. I had that happen on my 79...lets just say a little fire happened haha, and I also had no lights, turns out the wires rubbed through on the head, that was a fun mess.
