Hello. I have a 1979 GMC Sierra Grande K1500 long bed 4x4. I bought the truck back in 1983. I am the second owner. I drove it every day for 10 years and then parked it. It has 79000 miles. I changed it from an automatic to a standard, installed a 6 inch lift kit, changed the front end and rear end to get the 3.73 gears. I swapped about three engines in it. It now has a 350 back in it.
I did all of this back in the day before the internet and you tube were available. I had to figure it out or find someone that already knew. Did I mention that I love technology? Anyways, my son is now 15 and wanting to drive it.
We started it a couple of months ago. It was as if I had parked it yesterday. We had to put a battery, new battery cables and a starter in it before it would start. I rebuilt the engine before I parked it. I bet it doesn't have 1000 miles on it. Now if only the body was in as good a shape.
