I'm new to this forum. I bought a 1974 Longbed about a year ago. I've been working on it ever since! Rebuilt the front end, installed aftermarket gauges in the stock dash panel, cleaned up the engine bay (the 350 is really tired!),
replaced all the AC components, and modified the gas filler neck because of the damned California gas pumps, working on installing 40-20-40 bucket seats.

Howdy! What did you do to the filler neck? There's a few pumps in Ohio that don't play nice with my '79.

The stock 74 filler neck comes right out the side of the truck, quite low, and at about 90 degrees relative to the ground. So it seemed to me that the CA gas nozzles prefer to tilted down in towards the tank. Also when the pump shut off gas would come gushing out all over my paint. So I cut a 5" diameter hole in the side of my bed centered just above the stock hole, installed a new Jeep Wrangler fuel door and inner part. Then I cut my filler neck off and welded a late model top to it (with the little door inside the neck to prevent splash-back). Put it back together with a new vent hose and it works. I'd post some pics but I dont know how to. Hope this helps.
