Hello, not sure what the standard is for intro posts but here goes. Got back from over a decade overseas and found a 1989 V2500 GMC Suburban in eastern OR. Original owner 175k MI. 350 TBI. Great condition and zero rust since it was in the desert. Fully loaded, electric everything, running boards & roof rack that I think are all factory. Cleaned it up a bit cap & cables & tires and drove it up to Anchorage where I am now. Since then blew head gaskets over the winter due to a poorly installed block heater so got to learn that by myself in the cold. Heads were cracked as well so got some lightly used ones redecked & cleaned & revalved etc. Stripped the entire interior for sound deadening & insulation. Anyway sorry for the long story I'm hoping to get it repainted the original Black Sapphire eventually as clear coat is toast. Would love to hear what anyone thinks, questions, suggestions for first timers etc. Thanks!

Cool!
Those mountains are too small!

Truck looks great.
Running boards are probably not stock.
Tough to say about the roof rack, without closer pics.

Lot's of US contractor's were hired to modify the OEM trucks with "contractor use packages".
One of my neighbor's altered several custom vehicles to ship to mining and oil refining corporate offshore entities.
The mods you have look very similar.

Some had etched glass and custom front and rear, high impact bumpers.

Most, but not all, went to Saudi Arabia. (Back in the good old days).
You might have one of those, instead ended up in AK?

There's a lot of them there nobody knew about. Most got re-sold and ruined.
Black Saphire is No Joke.

Great find. I want one.
Welcome.

The roof rack looks like what our 75,77,79 and 84 Burbs had. Factory as far as I know, we bought them all used over a period of years. The 90 Burb was barn doors instead of a tailgate, and had no roof rack or third row seat. The running boards are aftermarket, but many square body Burbs and trucks had these as add-ons. Same kind our 90 had on it; it was a 2500 with the 8600# gvwr so it was a tall truck and they were needed.
