Is this something type of fusible link off the junction block? If so any specs or where to get. Have one on my 86 C10 but on my 86 K10 there is a fuse holder with a 40 amp fuse in it. Haven't had any trouble with it until recently. Will not start without it.

That a factory fusible link, your K10 should have had one like that so it’s been replaced. You can buy replacement fusible link wire at O’Reilly’s etc, you buy it based on the original wire size.

The size is printed on the wire, your picture shows 16 gauge.

Assume that should be fine under normal circumstances. Only had issue when I turned on the A/C and the fuse kind of slowly blew. Did not have another 40 but put a 30 in and it lasted a short while and did the same. I had turned A/C back off. Wasn't blowing cold anyway. Anything you can think of to look out for when I replace with new link?

Cut it original length. The value changes by gauge and length.

A fusible link marked as 16 is there to protect a 12 gauge wire. The link spec is always 4 digits larger (which means a smaller wire) than the gauge of the wire it protects.

If you have a Pick and Pull yard near you with some GMT400 trucks, make a trip there and take a look at the power junction they mount on the firewall. Its got more posts than the one on the squarebody (maybe 6?) and there are multiple wires with fusible links. Just unbolt and take the wires that match the size link you need, and splice them onto your squarebody wiring. When I upgraded alternators to a higher amp 12si I just pulled a GMT400 charge wire and used it, since its a better match than the old charge wire for the 10si alternator.
