Since you are in california that limits what type of cat you can put on it. Seems like most are only 49 state legal...
Magnaflow has some 50 state legal ones but they are almost $200.
Glad it is working for you though. Sounds like you've had a busy time lately.

Walker 80940 is what you need, and its $167 at Rockauto.com. there is also a discount code here in the rock auto section for 5% off.
the Magnaflow 50 staet one is $10 more, but Discount in 77k20's link does have it, just go to the toolbar on the left, and go down to series, where it says 50 state. But unless you are gonna sell it, I would just stick a short round magnaflow in its place, so the cops dont pull ya over for the extra noise. Nice not having to worry about smog inspections.
Glad you got it figured out!

if you have a vacuum gauge, you could have diagnosed a clogged exhaust in about 15 seconds. You would have hooked it to manifold vacuum and revved and held the engine at 2000ish RPM. The vacuum gauge would have went to ZERO and that would have told you a clogged exhaust.... instead of throwing money at it.

but glad you figured it out.

just hooking it up and reading it won't tell you if the exhaust is clogged. You have to rev it up and hold it.

Yup. I mentioned that in a text message to him, should have updated the thread.

The truck being "quiet as a Prius" was a great clue.
