I had 40 series on my 1998 sierra and she had a nice tone but at highway speeds it was loud in the cab. I went with dynomat and it worked great. If you want that classic flowmaster sound they are it!

Flowmaster 10 Series...

I had a 40 series on my '90 K1500(350) and it was too quiet. Had an ok tone to it but it was higher pitched. No deep rumble at all.

It varies a lot. Tubing size, headers, cid, tubing length, cam, type of cat convertor... it all makes a difference. Usually, I think a 40 series does a nice job of sounding good and loud, without being obnoxious.

I had a 40 on my '89 K1500/350 behind a y pipe and cat dumping out 2 90 degree dual 2" outlets in front of the pass side wheel under the front of the bed. Nice and bearable tone at idle, but when you romped on it it would make the yuppie at the light in the next lane spill his cappacino he he.... :D

Have dual 2.5 44's. Definitely not as loud as they are claimed to be.

I have a 97 4.6 F150 (I know) that I'm running all four factory cats with a SI/DO 10 series, and it's louder than the square.

Loud pipes save lives :headbang:

I`m running the cat. on Mine, single exhaust, with three inch in,three inch out,a length of pipe then a torpedo glass pack with three inch out of that, out behind the hind tire.Sounds real nice too.
I have been thinking of removint the cat, running duals,no mufflers and 1-7/8ths inch pipe, straight out behind the bumper.
Them babys sound sweet, not too loud, until, well when tromping on the throttle them babys really talk and the smaller diameter piping gives um a real nice tone.

Im Running 2" duals with Glasspacks(basically resonators) And it sounds pretty good when you get on it :D . And my 355 is also pretty mild, so that helps to.

Thats a mighty sweet sound.
The 1-7/8ths pipes gives them a bit of a "Crisp" tone.does`nt damage performance,I do`nt think.
