Hey all, picked up a grille cheap enough that I wouldn’t be disappointed if it ended up as a wall hanger, but I’m going to give it a try in the 79 if I can. I am running into clearance issues with the trans cooler and the hood hinge support. The depth of the grille fits up top, but the slant of the hood hinge mount and the trans cooler don’t allow the bottom to set in there right.

I’m noticing the same thing, not sure how to remedy it though other than getting a bracket. Not sure if I would get so lucky...

I bought that center bracket from the 73 but the chevy grille mounts are attatched from next to the headlights my 78 do not have.

Heck, I figured they were all relatively close in design. Serves me right for assuming, okay thank you!

I think they reproduce the parts you need for that grille. Try LMC or Brother’s Trucks, one of those type places.

Iirc, the '75-'76 GMC grille uses the same mounting brackets as all the '73-'74 trucks.

I’m jealous of guys who have actual old vehicles in actual junk yards. We don’t have that sort of thing out here. Partially due to the junk still driving around on the road, I guess.

Not on a square but numerous cars I've zip tied the grills in. So many cars have cheap plastic grills with built in clips the get sunbaked and brittle and break.I can usually find 4 spots to zip tie them. Hood latch support and trans cooler sorry your on your own .
