Im giving my 85 a proper rattle can paint job and really need the emblems off the fender. Does anyone know of a good way to get the emblems off without removing the entire fender?

You might be able to just take the top bolts off but you will have to unbolt it and pull it off far enough to get in there where it meets the door.

Didn't they start doing stick on around that year?

Thanks, im converting them to stick on.

I dont feel like pulling off fenders for a stupid badge and one of the badges has a broken stud anyways. Im just going to stick a hacksaw blade in the gap and saw away!

Nope, they use those speed nuts on the back side. Fenders would have to come off or access gained to do it right. Some guys tell me to carefully go ahead and break the stems and save the badge, then with the same holes and hope you have a nub left, then silicone or glue them back in at the studs only and they will hold well. I like to keep my factory badges too.

I realize that a fender on a '77 is much different than that of an '85 but I can access my retaining nuts from behind the fender (through the engine bay) without taking the fender off  If the fender is supposed to come off, though, just to get those emblems off I'd find a way to just cut the emblem off then buy new one and stick them on rather than taking the whole fender off just for that

Must be a consider difference in the inner part of the fender between 73-79 and 80+....

Well yeah, the emblem is near the top of the fender in earlier years and the middle later years.

I got the badges off...... with a hacksaw blade.

I pried out on them with a flat blade screw driver and slid the blade in, worked great and retained some pegs so I can re align the badges after my paint job.
