Factory style engine harness

I read a few threads on here and didn’t quite see the info I’m looking.

Awhile ago I had a Code 42 dilemma on my 91 suburban that a shop appears to have fixed. In doing so and tracing wires, the factory engine harness has a few splices and repairs from the shop. To avoid future electrical gremlins, my goal would be to replace the factory engine harness from the firewall to the engine area. Are there any companies out there that still make a factory harness or am I left with generic harnesses/local auto wiring folks as my only options?

Being a 91 and a late square body with the TBI/sensors/etc, the harness is a little more involved than say a 70s truck with carb. I’m by no means an electrician so doing the work myself is out. Also trying to avoid turning my burb into a paperweight by using a generic harness.

Any thoughts or leads are appreciated!

For a 1991 Suburban, GM no longer makes a new factory engine harness. Your options are to buy a quality aftermarket direct-fit harness built for your year and engine, or have a custom wiring shop build a harness to OEM specs. Generic harnesses or local splices are less reliable, so stick with one of these two routes.

Honestly, your best bet is to reach out to NewBoyz square body rescue and see if they have one. If not you may be able to send your harness in for a rebuild. I didn't get a clear answer if they are doing rebuild work when I asked but it kinda read that they are willing to do it. I have 3 harnesses here that I ordered from them that were refurbs and the work looks good.
