Took my truck for a drive today and stopped to get a drink. I was waiting in line for about 15 mins with engine running (AC off and temp stayed around 200 degrees) and once I drove away I kicked on AC and about 2 blocks later the engine stalled. Pulled over and waited a few minutes and truck started right back up. Driving home it was not driving well and engine would rev itself multiples times as I was driving at cruise speed. Continued to do this for ~10 miles. Any ideas or suggestions on where to start?

This is my first truck and have been learning the joys of square body ownership.

Start it up and let it idle, spay ether all around the carb base gasket and listen for rev ups. If it revs thats where your gasket is leakin.

I’d look for carbon tracking, oxidation, arcing evidence, and/or melted plastic in your distributor cap/rotor/coil/rotor bushing/spacer for the spark side. For the fuel, I’d hold off for a minute. And yeah, definitely check for vacuum leaks, but you may just have worn out disposable ignition parts. If so, try a brass contact cap instead of aluminum. My AC Delco cap and rotor (aluminum) were fried at 30K miles. I got a Duralast set, and I’m gonna see how that goes.
